Spring 2016 Trend Alert: Skirts

Spring 2016 is all about the skirts- updated textures, silhouettes and styles that will bring some much needed life to a worn out spring wardrobe. In the past it seems we haven't changed too much about our spring looks. It's been about the A-line skirts with different scale patterns and all the sheath dresses you can handle! It's boring and easy and there's nothing fashionable about boring & easy...

Enter, the updated styles of 2016 that will make you feel as though you have entered an all new and oh so fashionable realm of springtime style.

My new favorite silhouette is this take on the drop waist skirt that will both elongate the torso and give any outfit an air of futuristic sophistication.

With a little tailoring- these are sure to be a hit for Spring 2016 to show off your signature style. Whether it be a subtle nod to the trend or diving in with a color blocked masterpiece that shows you're fearless in the face of fashion-these looks are sure to turn some heads. I can't wait to work on my own take on these stunning designs!

Next up, all the gorgeous textures for the season! I'm never one to shy away from a good tulle skirt and I know these sweet styles will have you slipping on your ballet shoes soon too.

These skirts add a little whimsy to any outfit and are simple enough to work with all the basics in the closet. I adore the bow embellishment on the second look for an added girly touch and the texture on the black top adds another level to this stunner so don't be afraid to play! Mixing prints and textures together can be a harrowing task on your own so be sure to find some outfit inspiration and go for it- these skirts are the perfect starters to any playful outfit.

To round off my top 3 spring 2016 skirts, I have some gorgeous patterns! I know, I said just changing patterns is boring... and it is... unless you change up the silhouette as well!

With a little flare for the dramatic it's easy to take some great patterns to the next level. The watercolor-esque designs in the first two looks are perfect for spring with the flowers and the smeared paint look about them. They have that easy stylish vibe that is so hard to find in just one piece these days. Adding a truly gorgeous print to an exaggerated silhouette is the best way to vamp up your wardrobe after those drab winter days.

The length of these skirts is another great highlight- Midi is the new Mini! I love the modest length of the skirts for those cool spring days when you want to show off your girly side but also don't want to freeze! These lady-like looks are perfect additions to any wardrobe and are sire to make you look and feel effortlessly cool and stylish next Spring.

Spring 2015 Trend Spotlight: Midi Skirts

With the warmer weather sweeping the West Coast and the apocalyptic snow pelting the East Coast it seems the time to start looking forward to sunny days, warm weather, beautiful spring flowers and of course....

Midi Skirts!

Midi skirts may be my favorite trend this Spring- I've been absolutely dying for a big floral print, pleated midi in my life since the Fall and the time has finally come!

Browsing through Topshop at Nordstrom this weekend I couldn't help but be swept away by all the gorgeous midi skirts- see some of my favorites below:

Women's Topshop Stripe A-Line Midi Skirt Topshop Stripe A-Line Midi Skirt

This front zip pleated midi has the most stunning blue & black stripes- pair with some black pumps for Parisian perfection.

Pleated Faux Leather Skirt
Inverted Pleat Midi Skirt

I'm all about the white pallet this Spring and these are perfection for any occasion. The pleated Midi (Top) has a buttery soft hand that will make anyone swoon. The inverted pleated midi (Bottom) has clean lines and a structured look to take on any day in or out of the office.

Lace Insert Body-Con Tube Skirt

Adding in lace can give the midi look with a little more sultry style. Both have structured aspects with a little lady like lace to take these looks from day to night.

Pleated Wrap Skirt

Midi's this season are coming out with the most artistic and intriguing details in each silhouette and fabric. This midi has the perfect mix of classic & modern style to bring some European style to any day.

While all of the Topshop midi's are gorgeous, I have to say that these next looks have stolen my heart and my paychecks....

Alice + Olivia

Alice + Olivia Flora Printed Midi Skirt - Menagerie Floral

I am absolutely in love with these prints! The floral midi (Top) is an absolute stunner and silky texture makes this a must-have. The printed midi (Bottom) has such a unique print in a classic silhouette that can infuse a little fun into any wardrobe.

The beautiful black and white print midi has a gorgeous print and looks like a dream floating along while in motion.

This. Is. Everything.
From the silhouette to the semi-sheer paneling- if you buy one skirt this season- buy this one. This will take you from late winter through spring and back into the fall with seamless style.

I'm loving this color blocked midi with the ease and casual look of your favorite maxi and the sophistication of your favorite LBD it's sure to turn some heads and can be easily paired with anything in your wardrobe.

These are just a few of the stunners you'll find out this season- I assure you I could go on all day about the different details and textures (check out ASTR Clothing) and show you all the midi's seen at NYFW 2015 (Don't worry, NYFW trending will be coming up) but it's time to set you out to find your go-to midi for Spring 2015.
