Elie Saab Haute Couture Fall/ Winter 2012-2013
Fall 2013 Trend Report: Old Hollywood Glamour
Thinking back to the style of the 1950's conjures up a fashion muse unlike any other. With style and grace to spare and an eye for figure flattering lines the styles of the 1950's are amongst my favorites. Some of the more well known every day styles from this timer period are already hot amongst fashionistas of today including cigarette pants, flats and boat neck sweaters. However, these current styles are simply not going to cut it for those of us with a more luxe and glamorous look in mind.
Fear not my fashion leaders for I have the answer. Fall of 2013 is anticipated to be the most luxurious season in years. We have been working toward a more sophisticated look for the past two years by promoting a more simplistic view from some of our favorite fashion houses. Also, throwing back little bits of trends to the 50's has been a wonderful addition to the over worked and over played trends of today. Innovation is a necessity in any designers life, but we still need to remember where we came from and what was so special about each time period.
Elie Saab brought back the styles that I have been dying for since last Fall with the Fall/ Winter 2012-2013 Couture show. The way the garments are cut and how they fall on the body give beauty a new meaning. The looks were artful and inspired with a touch of the classic looks we love from old Hollywood. The dress shown above has Grace Kelly written all over it and the dress and 3/4 sleeve coat calls to the memory of a young Audrey Hepburn.
These designs are perfection and will allow the modern woman to be sophisticated and glamorous in her every day life. This show breathed new life into old silhouettes and paid homage to modern innovation in the textile choice as well as to the trend of sheer cover ups over exposed skin. This faux modesty will also be in an upcoming trend alert for Fall 2013!
