Fall 2015 Trend Alert: Exaggerated Silhouettes

I am absolutely in love with futuristic fashion- all of the new lines, cut outs, overlays and yes, even the exaggerated silhouettes- they are all so inspired and inspiring to see. Watching these new styles pushing the fashion limits makes me want to drop everything and go design.

While this trend is not for everyone- it is so interesting and absolutely worth taking a look at. These examples are the artistic exaggerated approach to the looks and we'll see them diluted down for the mass market but for now- let's revel in their beauty for a while.

All About Those Hips....

I know, there are not many women out there that want to make their hips look bigger but hear me out, what if we added just a little more curve to give that feminine shape? We see this volume added to the back everywhere so want add a little hip?

Ulyana Sergeenko

Not all of these looks have to be as out there as the first- there are much more subdued ways to add that extra volume- Ulyana Sergeenko even gave us a great way to hide the real hip lines and accentuate that teen waist- what more could you want?? These looks have a lot of old world, lady like appeal mixed with futuristic over the top lines and I can't wait to see where these new limits take designers.

Strong Shoulders....

I know what you're thinking- you're thinking, I am NOT putting those shoulder pads back into my suit jacket and I am not pulling out my Michael Jackson Thriller jacket to hang on to this trend. Have no fear, these looks are a world away from the 80's with large florals and even a few little details to give you that extra attention on those strong shoulders.

Elie Saab

Jean Paul Gaultier

Viktor & Rolf

I'm always a fan of bringing some drama to a look and I love the one shoulder accentuation and the upper or lower concentration. Having the option of moving the accented areas around brings new life to this trend in every example.

Full Skirts...

We're all seen the full skirts lately and I am in love. They are not only a fashion statement but truly a work of art when they bring such dramatics to what would otherwise be a simple look/ silhouette.

Dior

Jean Paul Gaultier

Viktor & Rolf

These were my favorite looks with the full skirts, fun lengths and half & half styles. The full shorter skirt gives a feeling of a sweet & simple look while the half & half designs show off a more daring attitude. Any way you wear this is a win in my book- this is the most versatile of the exaggerated silhouettes and can even be worn this spring to show of your new found trends!

No matter what you shape or size there's a look for you within these new styles- try a little accented shoulder or a full skirt to get a taste of your new found freedom this spring and by Fall you'll be rocking all these looks and more!
